OPTICS MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN
Part time to full time position. This self-motivated individual works well in a fast-paced team environment, takes pride in meticulous detailed-oriented work, handles production time pressures, and enjoys “hands-on” work. The candidate will be expected to possess and continually develop a broad spectrum of skills. The candidate will primarily focus on manufacturing orders but will also work closely with engineering, and will have a direct say in process development decisions. Candidate should be self-motivated and will be required to work unsupervised at times.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Processing (grinding, lapping and polishing) of glass, crystal, silicon and ceramic materials
- High precision optics metrology (interferometry, optical part characterization)
- Cleaning, handling and assembly of optical and opto-electronic components
- Optical contacting
- Cleaning and visual inspection of optical components.
- Proper handling and packaging of critical and fragile optical components.
- Operation of manual and CNC controlled shaping and dicing equipment.
- Procedure enforcement, maintenance, and cleaning of fabrication and clean room areas.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or GED
- Good manual dexterity, ability to clean and inspect small high-precision parts
- Proficiency in basic computer use (Word, Excel) and communication tools (e-mail)
- Ability to independently perform complex tasks from work instructions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to routinely move and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Familiarity with processing a wide range of materials, including CaF2, fused silica, quartz, optical glasses, sapphire, YAG, and silicon
- Familiarity with clean room protocol
- Prior experience with operation of optical equipment
